Housed in the former Gallery Hotel, Intercontinental Robertson Quay aims to bring new life to the existing building by entirely transforming its interiors, façade and adjacent outdoor spaces. The future hotel’s design blends elements borrowed from the neighbourhood’s industrial past with sleek contemporary finishes worthy of a luxury development. The arrival area, lobby lounge and first-floor restaurant introduce a variety of metallic features including various mesh screens, shelving and furniture trims, beam-like pendants and faceted copper-clad reception counters. The restaurant’s comfortable, tan leather armchairs are paired with warm timber floors and ceiling to enhance the industrial look, whereas the lobby lounge’s black lacquer, white marble and green velvet seating veer towards city chic. Sober and elegant, the guestroom has a pronounced masculine feel with its dark taupe woven leather headboard, midnight blue accents, and flamed black granite surfaces.
